Shenzhen, family and more Hong Kong

We managed to take a trip out to Shenzhen, China - which foreigners need to apply for a day visa...also have to pay $150 hongkong which is about $20 cdn...not too bad considering all the shopping you can do on that side of the border!!! Ben's Uncle Byron was a pro at bargaining...Ben ended up getting 2 suits for $1000 hk! Lol... lots of ties that include cuff links and matching handkerchiefs! Cheap cheap,....will definately have to go back before we leave!

Also visited my Yee Por which is Aunty Margaret's mother, she is still cute as ever!!! Had dim sum with Aunty Margaret...and she tricked us and secretly told the cashier not to accept our money...lol

We then had lunch with Aunty Agnes, Maggie (her daughter) and Michael (her son), we had another great feast! It was nice seeing Aunty Agnes...and mom & dad - she said to send you her love and thank you for the gifts and that she is feeling fine.

Here's some pictures!

Tian Tan Buddha

January 22, 2008

A visit to the Tian Tan Buddha aka Big Buddha located at Lantau Island in Hong Kong. It is the world's tallest outdoor seated bronze Buddha. The statue symbolizes the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people and religion.

We took a cable car up to the island, where the cable car was just build sometime last year! They were testing it a couple of months ago...and one of the cable cars fell off the cable...good thing no one was on it!

It was a great visit, I enjoyed visiting the Big Buddha and walking up the 50 flight of stairs....doesn't compare to Wendy and Anita's stairs during lunchtime...but hey it's an effort! LOL

Thank you Adam and Aunty Shirley for taking us out to the Big Buddha.

Family Day~

January 21, 2008

Spent some time with Ben's mom, aunts, and cousins~ Went shopping and tried to find Ben a suit...but he will probably have to get one custom-made. Had a yummy home cooked meal again :)
Yaaay to family and free food!

Visiting the temples~

January 20, 2008

Visited the temples in Kowloon city today - Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple which is the most popular temple in Hong Kong. According to legend, Wong Tai Sin is able to "make every wish come true upon request". Good thing I threw some coins into the pond! This temple is home to 3 different religions: Taoism, Buddhism and Confuciansim.

Yay I meet the requirements! Lol - it was from the MTR station on our way to the next temple.

Also located in Kowloon City - we visited the Hau Wong Temple...it was a lot smaller and not busy at all! Took some neat pictures~

Let me know if you want a miniature statue of a buddha before I leave!

Later on we went up to SOHO in Central which is a lively dining district. There are streets and streets of great food, coffee shops, lounges and funky bars. There's also a 800-metre long covered escalator that links to all the streets! CONVENIENT INDEED! After walking around the blocks a couple of times trying to choose our dining for the evening, we decided on a restaurant called Jasper. It was yummy - I had a Angus Beef burger which was about the size of my face...lol Ben had the banana leaf grilled snapper with lime-chili sauce, which he said was mediocre and Dan had the lamb chops which he said was superb.

My boyfriend on the ride back home from the MTR *teehee* he was a cutie~
